Ahdo merdeka celebration!!!

Merry Merdeka! Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan! GuoQingJie KuaiLe!

As promised,

Top to bottom: 1.The last draw of breath before the plunge; 2.Weee!!!!; 3."Merdeka!!HAPPY MERDEKA!!!MERDEKA!!!"(from a VERY enthusiastic fellow countryman a unit above); 4.Bom!!!ChiBaBom!!!; 5. Bom!!!PlakPlakBom!!!; 6. Bom ala VforVendetta finale (albeit shorter one); 7. Habis, HaiKomSeen.

It was much shorter than usual (the fireworks lah). But the significance of the Day should not be measured by the length of the act of igniting gunpowder nor should it be measured by the number of flags raised. Because without the people, a symbol is meaningless. Because without understanding the meaning of the Day, the flare and glare of a firework display is no more than the flame that comes out from a cigarette lighter.

Perhaps on this 31st of August, the 50th anniversary of the birth of the nation, we should take some time to ponder - how would we be without Malaysia? Then, perhaps the sense of euphoria for today, would come from the love and appreciation for this country and not anything else.

For the love of the country,
Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan ke-50.
